Stadium CC victorious

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, March 1: An unbeaten 66 by Imran Mulla proved a match-winner for Stadium Cricket Club as they raced to a five-wicket win over Shivajians Cricket Club, in the MCA Poona League limited overs cricket tournament, here today.

Taking strike first, Shivajians failed to put up a competitive score and were restricted to just 137 in their allotted overs, owing to some restrictive bowling by Prasad Tamhankar (2 for 26) and Imran (3/24). Shivajians built their innings through the individual effort of Rahul Shambus who made 62.

In reply, Stadium CC stumbled initially, but had Imran and Gajanan Hegde (38) stabilise their innings and see them home. Vishal M with 3/26 did the early damage with some accurate bowling.

In another tie, Judicial CC posted the highest score of the day -- 230 against State Bank of India (SBI) with Ramesh Tikone (46) and M Yadav (44) playing stellar innings. However, SBI aided by a knock of 59 by Sunil Gudge fell short in their chase by 42 runs. N Sardesai (3/29) and Jog (3/25) shared the bowling spoils.

Shivajians C.C: 137 for 5 (Rahul Sambhus 62, Imran Mulla 3/24, Prasad Tamhankar 2/26) lost to Stadium Cricket Club: 138 for 5 (Imran Mulla 66 n.o, Gajanan Hegde 38, Vishal M 3/26). Result: Stadium C.C won by 5-wkts.

PYC Hindu Gymkhana: 172 for 8 (Shailesh Patil 53, Vinay Singh 30, Dayanand Irkal 2/41, Ganesh Thakurde 2/22) b Metro Cricket Club: 125 (Rajesh Deshmukh 34, Arif Sheikh 30, Ram Nagtilak 2/21), Nitin Gupta 2/16). Result: PYC Hindu Gymkhana won by 47 runs.
