Policemen save nine from fire
Nine persons, including two foreign nationals, were saved by the timely action of two beat constables early on Wednesday morning, when a fire broke out in the HUDCO complex on Lodhi Road. Constables Brijender and Brij Kishore were on patrol when they saw smoke billowing out of the complex and woke up the sleeping guard outside the building. They also informed the PCR van and fire personnel. Eleven fire tenders doused the fire in about one hour and rescued the people who were trapped. In two separate incidents, two men were stabbed and one was shot at in Krishna Nagar yesterday. Joginder and Kewal were stabbed in a park when they had gone to help their friend, Ajay, who got into a fight with a group of people.
Both were rushed to SDN hospital. Kewal was discharged soon, while Joginder had to be admitted in the hospital. His condition, however, is stated to be stable.In another incident, 23-year-old Harinder, a resident of Jagat Puri allegedly fired at 30-year-old Satish Kaul from a katta but missed the aim. Both are said to be property dealers and drinking mates. The incident took place when Kaul parked his car in front of Harinder's shop. Harinder is said to have objected to this and asked Kaul to remove his car. But, when Kaul refused to budge, Harinder got his katta and took an aim at him. He was held and charged with attempt to murder.
