Chautala willing to support non-BJP, non-Cong PM

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, MARCH 3: Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Om Parkash Chautala today said that his party would extend its support to a government with a non-Congress Prime Minister at the Centre in the event of the fall of the BJP Government. Chautala said his party would be willing to extend support to the Prime Minister of any other party and that he would support any government that included Congressmen as ministers.

Chautala also announced that a massive rally would be organised by their party at Ram Lila grounds at New Delhi on March 6 to protest the `anti-farmer' actions of the ruling party. He alleged that though his party had withdrawn support from the BJP government at the Centre over the issue of the hike in prices of urea, LPG, and other commodities, the government has gone ahead with other steps which would affect the farmer community badly. ``The government has aggravated the misery of the farmer with the budget,'' Chautala alleged.

Addressing a news conference here today, Chautala claimedhis party was forced to withdraw support to the Vajpayee government following its adamant stand not to roll back the hike in prices of essential commodities. Charging the Vajpayee government of adopting double standards, Chautala alleged that while the law and order situation in both Bihar and Haryana was bad, only the Bihar government had been dismissed. He however expressed support to Article 356 of the constitution.
