Working women stage rally

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 4: The Working Women Welfare Association of Punjab and Chandigarh staged a rally today in Sector 27 in connection with the International Women's Day on March 8.

The rally was held to press the demand for 30 per cent reservation of seats for women in various government offices and other issues pertaining to benefits for working women.

Addressing the rally, Kulwant Kaur Garewal, president of the association stressed on the need for a reserve of 10-day casual leave for working women at every stage.

The leaders of the association further demanded that houses be allotted on a priority basis to single or widowed working women. They further demanded that husbands of expecting working women should be entitled to a 40-day leave to help their wives at the time of delivery.

The employees threatened to intensify their agitation if their conditions were not improved.
