Rs 2,000 fine for rash driving

CHANDIGARH, March 5: Pinjore resident Suresh Kumar, booked for rash and negligent driving, was today convicted by UT JMIC Paramvir Nijjar and was released on probation for six months after he furnished a bond of Rs 6,000 and one surety in the like amount.

The accused was also directed to pay Rs 2,000 as fine. An FIR was registered under Sections 279, 338 IPC after the accused had caused grievous hurt to one Vidya Devi near the Sukhna bridge.

Rash driving accused acquitted: In yet another case of rash driving under Sections 279, 338 IPC, one Mewa Singh was today acquitted by UT JMIC Tejwinder Singh. Chander Bhan, the person who was allegedly injured by Singh while driving rashly, today did not appear in the court.
