Sena's Ubale trains guns on Thakur, seeks transfer

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, MARCH 5: Leader of the Opposition and Shiv Sena corporator in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Sulabha Ubale today fired yet another salvo against Municipal Commissioner Ganesh Thakur demanding his suspension. Ubale, in a letter to Chief Minister Narayan Rane, has charged that Thakur has mislead the government by providing incorrect information regarding promotions given to two assistant commissioners. She demanded an enquiry into the matter.

The civic administration had drawn flak last November at the civic general body meeting when the issue of irregularities in transfers was raised. Two administrative officers of the backward class were promoted to the posts of assistant commissioners.

The urban development department had asked the corporation in December to submit a report regarding the promotions.

Ubale said that the corporation had sent the report to the UD department on February 26 in which it has been stated that the promotions were given because there was no other eligible person for the post. Ubale charged that the information in the report was incorrect as at the time of promotions there were employees who were fully eligible.

Ubale had sent a letter to the Chief Minister last month demanding Thakur's transfer. She alleged that the developmental works were slowing down as the administration was busy organising cultural events.
