SGPC to celebrate its own Khalsa fest

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
CHANDIGARH, MARCH 7: Reflecting a deep divide in the Sikh religio-political set up, Punjab government-backed Anandpur Sahib foundation and Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) will organise parallel programmes next month to mark the tercentenary celebrations of Khalsa Panth.

SGPC president G S Tohra on Sunday rejected the programme schedule announced by Finance Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh here on Saturday for the celebrations of the 300th anniversary of formation of Khalsa by the 10th Guru Gobind Singh.

Singh had announced that the celebrations would commence on April 6 and the event would be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on April 8.
