This has not only resulted in a lot of inconvenience to the general public, but rendered the SDM's court non-functional. Not only that, hundreds of cases being tried in the court of SDM are lying pending and the applications for driving licences and registration certificates for vehicles piling up at the SDM office, it is reliably learnt.

While the staff at the SDM office attribute the delay to the absence of permanent SDM, the lawyers and general public are demanding speedy clearance of pending court cases and issuance as well as renewal of driving licences and RCs of vehicles.

Inquiries at the SDM's office revealed that not even a single case being tried in the court of SDM has been decided during the past two months. The same is the case with the driving licences and registration of vehicles. Sources at the SDM's office also admitted that the court proceedings had virtually come to a standstill.
