ONGC donation for health centre

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
VADODARA, March 7: The SC/ST Employees' Welfare Association of ONGC, Vadodara, donated Rs 1.5 lakh for constructing a health centre in Khatiwat village in Chhotaudepur. The association has asked the district health authorities and the DDO to build the centre at the earliest and arrange for a doctor.

Executive Director, ONGC Western Region N Lal will perform the bhoomi Pujan and the foundation stone-lying ceremony on Monday.

WOMEN'S DAY: THE Women's Development Forum of ONGC, Vadodara, will hold a function at the Officers' Club on Monday to commemorate International Women's Day. N Lal, will be the chief guest, while Meera Ramnivas, DCP, (Administration) Vadodara will be the guest of honour.

Competitions: The Employees' Welfare Committee organised various sports competitions for ONGC employees. The winners included: Carrom (Men singles event) Sunil Hedadoo, R S Sajwan (runner-up). Men Doubles: J D Landge and N J Shah and Sunil Hedaoo and R S Sajwan (runners-up). Women Singles: Kalpana Jadhav and Nirmala Negi (runner-up). Chess Competition: E S Murthy, V C Nigam (runner-up). Badminton event: Y P Avashi won the men singles and Vishal Shastri was the runner up; while in the doubles Brahmaji Rao and S B Chobey emerged winners and Vishal Shastri and Omkar Singh were the runners-up. In the women's singles Nirmala Negi and Leena John were the winner and runner-up respectively.

In the Table Tennis event L V Thakre and M K Chaudhar were the winner and runner-up respectively while in the women's singles Rashmi Gupta was the winner and Narayani Mahil the runner-up. In the volley ball event EBG field party led by Anil Rajput won against CWS Vadodara led by K S Talathi.

Donated: ONGC's Cambay Project donated Rs 50,000 to the Darapura Gram Panchayat near Padra. At a programme organised by the Sardar Patel Vidhyalaya on March 5, S R Trivedi, Project Manager of ONGC Cambay presented the cheque to the sarpanch of Darapura village with which the Gram Panchayat purchased a water pump.

Training programme: ONGC's Staff Training Institute, Ahmedabad conducted two training programmes on `Natural Gas Engineering' at ONGC GPC Hazira with the help of Training Division GPC Hazira for the staff of Production and Instrumentation diploma of Western Region in 1998-99. Two batches of 30 participants each underwent the training.
