RPI to challenge SC if it opposes Rule

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
KOLHAPUR, MARCH 7: Senior leader of the Republican Party of India (RPI), Prakash Ambedkar said that if the Supreme Court intervened in the Bihar problem after the Rajya Sabha rejects the decision of imposing President's Rule in the State, he would submit an impeachment proposal against it.Addressing a press conference at the Government Circuit House here last night, Ambedkar, MP, expressed confidence that imposing President's Rule in Bihar would be rejected in Rajya Sabha when it comes up for ratification. But in case the Rajya Sabha votes in favour of it, he demanded that a joint session of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha be held to discuss the issue. He felt that the court should not intervene in this matter and added that personally, he was against the dissolution of any State Government on grounds of murder. This, according to him, would create an even more unsafe atmosphere for dalits and the landless minorities.

He charged that the Congress, BJP and Samata Party had never really worked to change thesocial situation in the Bihar over the years, which had led to the worsening of the law and order situation there. He challenged Union Defence Minister George Fernandes to declare that his party had no nexus with the Ranbir Sena in Bihar.
