Batting first Maharashtra scored 181 for 9 in 35 overs with Augu Swami unbeaten 78, with seven fours. In reply North Zone missed the target by just one wicket as they made 180 for 9 in 35 overs. Surjit (56) and K K Gandhi (49) were their main scorers. Augu Swami claimed four wickets for 35 runs.

The winners received the Chairman's running trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5000. North Zone were rich by Rs 2,500. K K Gandhi (North Zone) was adjudged the best all-rounder. Augu Swami (Maharashtra) and Kamlesh (Maharashtra) were declared the best batsman and the best bowler respectively. Cash prizes were also given to the first three position holders in table tennis, carrom and chess.

P K Sharma, General Manager of OBC, Punjab Zone, distributed the prizes. Among those present was Yog Raj Gupta, General Secretary of the AIOBEF. Meanwhile, T K Dutta, secretary, Oriental Bank Employees Sports and Cultural Club, disclosed that bank's CMD Dalbir Singh had promoted veteran sportsperson Jagdish Parshad.

Modi XI beat Fauji XI by 14 runs while Prudential XI scored a convincing 104 runs victory over United XI in the Shine Star Cup cricket tournament being played here.
