NEW DELHI, March 10: A city court today granted two weeks to police to file reply to an application of Suresh Nanda, father of the main accused Sanjeev Nanda, in the BMW car hit-and-run case expressing his willingness to provide assistance to victims' families.Metropolitan Magistrate V K Sharma asked the special prosecutor I U Khan to file the reply by March 24 when the matter would come up for further hearing.
The court also extended the remand period of Sanjeev Nanda in judicial custody till the next date after Khan said the investigation in the case was still in progress.
Suresh Nanda today filed another application through his counsel Ramesh Gupta seeking the prosecution's assistance in getting the list of the victims of the accident so that the Rs 15 lakh, deposited in the BMW accident relief account, could be distributed among them.
Khan had earlier submitted that the prosecution was no way in the picture as "compensation is in between the accused and aggrieved parties".
According to theprosecution, Sanjeev Nanda had run over and killed six people, including three policemen, at Lodhi Road in the wee hours of January 10 while driving a BMW car allegedly in an inebriated condition.
