Explanation sought

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
VADODARA, MARCH 10: The dean of the Faculty of Arts, Maya Shah has sought for an explanation from the senior professor of the Department of English, U M Nanavati, for not distributing the question papers and remaining absent from his duty. This examination was to be held on Monday.

Speaking to, Express Newsline on Wednesday, Shah said, ``I have asked for an explanation and he has to submit it in written, with the reason by March 13.''

She added that it is to be sorted out at the departmental level but as the faculty head, senior teachers are expected to be careful with important assignments. She added that the head of the department was also responsible for the action of the teacher as the in charge person himself was also not aware that he was to see to it that examinations were held without any disturbance.

The explanation given by Nanavati would also be submitted to the Vice-Chancellor of M S University Anil Kane and Pro vice-chancellor Deepak Kumar De.

When contacted, Nanavati refused to comment on the issue saying that he would submit his letter to the dean.

The examinations for this would now be held on Saturday (March 13) and the question paper too would remain the same as they were not distributed in any section on Monday.
