Man beaten to death

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, MARCH 10: A man succumbed to his injuries after he was brutally beaten in the Chandi Mahal police station area in Central Delhi late last night. The police recovered 25-year-old Shamim's body late this afternoon.

According to the investigating officers, Shamim was beaten up when he was found with a physically impaired girl last night and her relatives spotted them. The girl's brother Miraj-ud-din found the duo when he heard some noise and came out of his house to check, the police say. Miraj-ud-din and his brothers brutally beat up Shamim and left him to die.

Miraj-ud-din visited the police station this afternoon and told them that a labourer was lying unconscious in his house. The police took Shamim to hospital but he was already dead. A case of murder has been registered at the Chandi Mahal police station. Shamim worked as a labourer in Shamim's shop in the same area.

However, the investigating officers have not been able to verify whether Shamim had physically assaulted the girl or the duo were having an affair. DCP (Central) S.B.K. Singh told Express Newsline: ``As the girl is both deaf and dumb, we have not been able to interrogate her. She will be medically examined tomorrow to determine physical assault, if any''.
