Lt Governor sets encroachment drive in motion

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, MARCH 10: Following up his earlier order for removing encroachments, Lt Governor Vijai Kapoor has directed land-owning agencies to prepare an inventory of their land and built structures so that unauthorised occupants can be removed at the earliest.

In the meeting of the monitoring committee today, it was decided that a group of retired audit officers would oversee the preparation of the inventory. Senior officers of Delhi administration, including Chief Secretary Omesh Saigal, and officers from DDA, MCD, NDMC and Delhi Police were present at the meeting. The Chief Secretary was asked to expedite the appointment of a Survey Commissioner so that encroachment on Waqf land and properties could be removed. The LG also directed the DVB to intensify the drive for disconnecting unauthorised power connections.
