Hoax call disrupts rly traffic
Rail Traffic on the Sonepat-Delhi section was disrupted for almost two hours this morning following a hoax call that a bomb had been planted on the railway tracks. Bomb disposal squads and railway officials examined the stretch of railway line between Azadpur and Badli railway stations for over 90 minutes from 8 a.m., when the call was received. They, however, found nothing and train services were restored a little after 9.30 a.m.

Man held for murder
Akram, 19, was arrested for his alleged involvement in a murder, attempt to murder and robbery case. It began with the discovery of an unidentified male body in a park in the Idgah area of Sadar Bazar. There were deep wounds on the man's neck and face.

According to the police, the victim, Nazre Alam, was a trader who dealt in music systems. On Sunday he met Akram, who said that he wanted to buy a tape recorder. According to the police, the two got into a fight when Akram paid only Rs 300, instead of the promised Rs 1,000. Akram allegedly attacked Alam with a razor blade.

Councillor held
Disproportionate wealth and several incriminating documents were confiscated from the house and commercial premises of Inderjit Singh Sabarwal, councillor, Faridabad Municipal Corporation, during a raid by a high level Income Tax officials in the city today.

Sabarwal was running chit funds and a lottery business in the city running into 5 to 6 crore, said an official. Apart from his residence, his business establishments Sabarwal Emporium, Sabarwal Electronics and Sabarwal Music in the NIT area were under the seige.

Recently the councillor had also switched over to the movie production and was in process of producing some film from Mumbai, said the official.

MCD officials held for graft
The anti-corruption branch have arrested two Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs 1,000. The police were acting on a complaint made by Parvesh Kumar, a Geeta Colony resident. Kumar wanted to clear his brother-in-law's house tax bill. He met the concerned area clerk of the house tax department, who allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1,000.

The police laid a trap for MCD Assistant Zonal Inspector Shyam Sunder Pushkarna, who was caught while receiving the cash and then passing it on to his peon Lakhi Ram.
