NOIDA, MARCH 12: Their names were on the list of the successful 10,000 applicants, out of the more than one lakh aspirants, who had booked Telco's much talked about small car, Indica. They were hoping to be amongst the first proud owners of Telco's new baby. But even as the Indica is being delivered to Delhi and other parts of the country, those who booked the car with the Noida dealer of Telco have been waiting outside the Indica showroom in Noida, which has been locked for past two days.
Mahender Singh Awana, a Noida businessman who is waiting for his Indica, said: ``Initially they promised to start delivering the cars from February 28, then they postponed the date and now the showroom is closed.'' Awana waited for more than two hours outside the Indica showroom in sector 2, Noida, this morning.
``When I contacted the Regional Manager of Telco in Delhi, Nitin Seth, he told me that my car was dispatched from Pune on March 7. According to him, my car was supposed to be delivered on March 10,'' he said.
Kirparam Sharma, an industrialist, with priority number two, says he is fed up with the attitude of the Telco dealer. ``I have made several calls to the showroom but no one picked up the phone there. There is no satisfactory answer either from the dealer or from the regional office of Telco. I am contemplating going to a court of law,'' said Sharma.
Manoj Kumar, yet another aspirant, says he feels as if he has been cheated.``The showroom was open till the day before yesterday. There is no notice at the showroom gate,'' he said.
Express Newsline contacted Nitin Seth, the Regional Manager of Telco in Delhi. He was in Ludhiana to deliver the first lot of the Indica. He said: ``I came to know about the closure of the Noida Showroom this morning. We are looking for the dealer. He shall be pulled up. I shall set things in order as soon as I reach Delhi this evening,'' he said.
In the Telco regional office, there was confusion on the issue. The Noida dealer, Tarun Kapoor, when contacted, said: ``We are old dealers of Telco. We never got into such a situation.'' He alleged that the situation was the fault of Additional Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Mamta Sharma.`` We had applied for the trade certificate two weeks ago which we have not got as yet. Now the ARTO has gone out of town. We shall wait till Monday before contacting higher authorities.''he added. Mamta Sharma was not available for comment.
