KANPUR: In A BIZARRE INCIDENT A TWO-AND-A-HALF YEAR OLD GIRL WAS brutally murdered, allegedly by three children, while playing under a tree in a village here. The boys, aged between three and four, allegedly stoned the toddler, then brought a kitchen knife from the house to stab her and disposed of the body in a nearby drain in Hathipur village on Sunday evening. Narrating the incident innocently, the children said they learnt to stab from action films.

Sachin to rest

MUMBAI: Sachin Tendulkar has been forced to go in for a longer rest than expected. Tendulkar, who was scheduled to miss the first two matches of the Triangular One-Day Series to be played in India between March 19-April 4, will now miss entire championship.

Akali shot dead

LUDHIANA: A prominent Akali Dal (Badal) leader Balraj Singh was shot dead by some unidentified persons here late last night, police said today. Singh, a former municipal councillor, was on his way back fromAmritsar after attending the SGPC meeting there.

Naxals attack

HYDERABAD: Naxalites of the outlawed Peoples War Group (PWG) attacked the railway police at Bellampalli in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh and snatched weapons from police personnel late last night, police said today. A police sub-inspector was injured in the indiscriminate firing.
