Rabri wins vote of confidence
With the Bihar Congress staying away and the Samata grappling with a split, Chief Minister Rabri Devi won the vote of confidence in the Assembly today 172-85. There was confusion in the Congress since this morning. Although Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Ramashraya Prasad Singh claimed that the central leadership had asked the state unit to abstain from voting, six Congress MLAs close to Laloo said they were keen to vote in favour of the Rashtriya Janata Dal government.Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
