Thirty year old man stabs himself

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, March 17: A resident of Bapu Dham Colony was admitted to hospital after he reportedly stabbed himself in the abdomen.

The police have registered a case of attempt to suicide.

Police said that 30-year-old Balbir Singh stabbed himself after he had a tiff with his wife at their residence in Bapu Dham Colony, near Sector 26, here. The police added that they could not record the statement of Balbir Singh, as he was declared unfit.

However, from the injured person's wife and sister, who was also present at their residence, the police gathered that Balbir Singh, a labourer, asked his wife to give him money to buy liquor, failing which he would kill himself. When his wife refused, he went out and reportedly stabbed himself in the abdomen with a knife. He was rushed to the hospital where he was reported to be out of danger, police added.

Man dies
A Sector 38 resident, Sanjay Kumar (20), died after he reportedly consumed a poisonous substance at his residence. He was admitted to PGI where he died in the evening.
