Rice-millers on the warpath again

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PATIALA, March 17: The Punjab Rice Millers Association has called a special meeting of its executive on March 20 at Dhuri to take stock of the present situation and to chalk out future action programme.

Tarsem Saini, president of the association, said here today that the association feels cheated by the Union government as the facts regarding the exclusion of the levy rice from the relaxation and the limitation had never been discussed. He said that the association had already rejected the specification and relaxation proposed by the Centre because it failed to provide any relief to the rice millers.

He said that the millers had been given only 10 days time to mill the aforesaid stocks of paddy, which was impossible and the association had been left with no other option but to re-start agitation.

He hinted that the association was planning to organise a protest dharna in front of the office of Ministry of Food soon.
