Crime Watch -- Surat

Cable room torched
Unidentified miscreants set fire to a cable room of Nilkanth Channel, located at Alfanagar Society in Katargam, during the early hours of Wednesday, a case registered in the Katargam police station said. Paresh Panchal, the owner of the channel, complained to the police that at around 2 am, some people poured petrol on his cable control room and set it on fire, destroying an AC, stabilisers, decoders, receivers, wiring and other electronic gadgetry worth Rs 1 lakh. The police have registered a case under sections 436 and 427 of the IPC and PSI L K Parmar is investigating further.

Kidnapping
The Katargam police, on Tuesday night, registered a case against a 29-year-old man for kidnapping a minor and compeling her for marriage. A complaint was registered by one Puranmal Navrangmal Bhargav, a resident of Kirtinagar Society, Utran, saying that his daughter Chanda (15) was kidnapped by one Santosh Patil (28), also from the same society, on March 10. Both, he said, are missing since then. A case was registered under sections 363 and 366 of the IPC at 12:30 on Tuesday night. No arrests have been made.

Burns death
One Jyotsna Raju Patil, a 24-year-old resident of Gautam park Society, in Kapodara died on Wednesday in the Ashaktashram hospital, where she was being treated for burn injuries for the past fortnight. Citing the dying declaration of the woman, the police said that she was cooking on a kerosene stove in her house, when it exploded, causing her severe burns. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered at the police station.
