Notification bans traffic
Deputy Commissioner D M Naik has issued a notification banning vehicular traffic on 22 feet road in Kapodara-Varachha area, near Srinagar Society. The road will be closed from 7 to 11 am and 4 to 9 pm. Naik said the decision was to taken to minimise accidents. Those having any suggestions or objections regarding the ban should contact the DCP (Traffic).

Exhibition
Artist Chandra Kant's solo exhibition of drawings and paintings was inaugurated at Rotary Art Gallery, Nanpura on Sunday. The week-long exhibition will be open from 11 am to 9 pm. A resident of Jhansi (UP), Chandra -- who has also held exhibitions in Mumbai and Delhi -- is holding his 10th exhibition in Surat.

Function
Aidso and Premchander Meghal Library will organise a function at Kanjbhai Desai Samaj Shikshan Bhavan on Tuesday to mark martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhadev. Prof Hakumat Desai, Prof Ghanshyam Sanadya, Prof Ranita Nagar (Navsari), Meenakashi Joshi of Ahmedabad will speak at the function which will begin at 6 pm.

Meeting
The Surat District Industry Centre will hold a meeting on Tuesday at 3 pm at the South Gujarat Chamber Institute. The meeting is being organised to guide and help those seeking financial assistance upto Rs 1 lakh to set up small units.

Celebrations
Vadodara: `Gudi Padva' the Marathi New Year Day, was celebrated on Thursday. A function was organised on the occasion by the Paschim Vibhag Maharashtra Mandal at Subhanpura.

Help sought
The 22-odd students of the Faculty of Commerce, who will not be able to appear for their final examinations, met the senate and the syndicate members of the MSU and appealed them to take up their case in the coming meeting.
