Breeding colony of storks found in Karnataka

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
BANGALORE, March 21: A breeding colony of painted storks and grey herons has been discovered at a village near Sira in Tumkur, Karnataka. Some 600 painted storks and 100 herons have set up a colony at Kaggaladu village, and experts say this is the second largest such colony in south India. A couple of pelicans, which are on the endangered list, have also been sighted at the colony. The villagers believe the birds are harbingers of rain and prosperity.
