10-yr-old boy burnt to death in Gwalior

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
BHOPAL, March 24: The 10-year-old son of a constable died after two boys poured kerosene on him and set him on fire in Gwalior yesterday. Sumit Kumar, the son of constable Satish Tripathi, succumbed to 65 per cent burn injuries at a local hospital at around 10 this morning.

Constable Naresh Verma, who lodged the report at the Bahodapur Police Station (Gwalior), told The Indian Express over telephone that the incident took place in the DRP lines area. Those who torched Sumit Kumar were identified as Gullan and Deenu, also the sons of a police constable, Geeta Pathak.

One of the boys caught hold of Sumit Kumar while the other poured kerosene on him and held a burning match to his clothes. The duo reportedly fled the scene of crime. The 10-year-old boy was later taken to hospital by his parents.

The two families had been living in enmity for quite some and had lodged reports against each other at the police station several times in the past, Verma said.
