CHANDIGARH, MARCH 24: Haryana Health Minister Brij Mohan Singla today released a souvenir in recognition of the services provided by Sanjivani ,a voluntary body , to mark the World Tuberculosis Day.Project director of Sanjivani, Dr Pawan Sharma said that six-year-old voluntary body had adopted a few TB patients of Chandigarh and surrounding areas and had provided them with necessary medical and dietary assistance. Government Chest clinic of Health Department today held a medical camp for chest diseases and for detection of TB in Government Middle School in Colony No.4. More than 120 patients were examined by doctors led by Dr R.K.Chopra. On the spot sputum was examined and medicines given free of cost.
A medical camp was also organised by the Department of Chest Diseases and Tuberculosis, Government Medical College and Sector 32 Hospital at Ram Darbar area in coordination with other departments like community medicine, microbiology and radiology. Two hundred and seventy one patients were examined on the occasion by a team of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff in a camp which lasted the whole day.
According to Dr Ashok Kumar Janmeja, prof and head of the Department of Chest Diseases and TB, GMCH, Sector 32 said," Various investigations like sputum examination, lung function tests and X-ray tests were also performed and medicines distributed free of cost to those who attended the camp."
