Additional cash counter for DNP
An additional cash counter has been opened at the Office of the General Manager Telecom District, Karelibaug for the convenience of customers, according to a statement by General Manager Rakesh Babu on Wednesday. Only Demand Note Payment in cash will be accepted at this counter. The working hours of the new cash counter will be 9.30 am to 1 pm from Monday to Friday and 9 am to 11 am on Saturday.

Railway strike
Members of the Western Railway Mazdoor Sangh on Wednesday began a week-long strike at various parts of the Vadodara division. The members are protesting against non-implementation of revised pay scales recommended by railway ministry for stenographers, ticket checking staff and others. General secretary of the western railway Mazdoor Sangh J Mahurkar has requested Divisional Railway Manager K C Jena to recommend the board authorities to do the needful.

Anniversary
The electronic loco shed of Vadodara will celebrate its 26th anniversary on Thursday. To commemorate the occasion, staff welfare committee an elected body of the staff has insured each employee from personal accident for the next 10 years. The policy will be distributed by Divisional Railway Manager K C Jena on Thursday.

Bank elections
Congress-backed Krishi Vikas panel won nine out of 15 seats and the BJP backed Sahakar panel claimed six seats in the elections to the Board of Directors of Vadodara District Central Co-operative Bank on Tuesday. One Director was elected unopposed. Three members are nominated by the Government and registrar of Co-operative societies is also member. Prominent winners include builder Ramesh Patel, K T Amin of the Baroda Dairy, Ranjit Rathwa, Upendrasinh Gohil and Sudhakar Patel.

Elected
A pepalla, president of Baroda University Teachers Association, has been elected vice-president of the Federation of College and University Teachers' Association of Gujarat.
