Three held for vehicle theft
The Navapura police have solved four cases of motorcycle theft from different parts of the city and five cases of cycle theft by arresting three persons on Wednesday. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Mohan Jha, they recovered one stolen motorcycle from Fatehgunj from Dineshbhai Chandubhai Mali, a resident of Sanjay Nagar in Sama and three other motorcycles from Chetanbhai Gobindbhai Raval, a resident of Hanuman Tekri on Dabhoi Road. While two motorcycles were stolen in 1997, one was stolen in 1998. Yet another person Ambubhai Laxmanbhai Tadvi, a resident of Navi Nagari, who hails from Thunavi village of Vadodara district, was also arrested and five stolen cycles seized from his house.Valuables stolen
Theft of cash and valuables worth Rs. 33,000 was reported from two different houses on Tuesday night. According to police, a black and white TV and a tape recorder and two speakers were stolen from a house in Wadi area, gold ornaments worth Rs. 30,000 was stolen from a house in Prakriti apartments on Vajradham Mandir Road in Manjelpur Township. Hiteshkumar Jaywantkumar Joshi, a resident of Majelpur, has lodged an FIR with the Sayajigunj police station that his Hero Honda (GJ-6-R-5985) worth Rs 20,000 was stolen stolen by unidentified persons using duplicate keys from outside Rajshree Cinema on Tuesday.
Sugar burnt
Sugar worth nearly Rs 10 lakh was gutted in a fire at Ambar Sugar Factory between Menpura village and Carvan here on Tuesday around 2.15 p.m. The cause of the fire is unknown. No casualty has been reported. Two fire tenders took nearly one hour to extinguish the blaze.
Youth held
Three youth, all about 20-years-old, were detained by the Panigate on the charges of stealing two Hero Honda motor-cycles. Purshottam, M Bagasara and Virendra Parmar, presently residents of Surat, were caught from the Waghodia Road on Tuesday around 5 pm, when the police found them involved in suspicious acts. The motorcycles GJ 5AC 3540 and GJ1CD 5272 have been taken into police custody. During interrogation, the youth revealed that they had stolen the vehicles for a joy-ride.
