Power station to be opened on Friday

VADODARA, March 24: The 210 MW unit 5 of Gandhinagar Thermal Power Station of the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) and Gujarat State Electricity Corporation (GSEC) will be formally inaugurated by Union Home Minister L K Advani on Friday.

A Board spokesman said Central Energy Minister P R Kumarmangalam, Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, Board Chairman Nalin Bhatt and State Energy Minister Kaushik Patel will be present on the occasion at Gandhinagar.

According to information, the power station has been set up at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 700 crore and it had started functioning some three months ago.

Chief Engineer of the Thermal Power Station G M Patel and general manager (Projects) of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation D L Munshi said that Indian currency has been used to set up the plant. They claimed that it has been set up in a planned time with the help of internal infrastructure facilities.
