CHENNAI, March 24: Delhi's Vishal Uppal (third seed) staved off a challenge from Praveen Kumar of Karnataka to make it to the last eight along with three other seeds Vijay Kannan (Del-1), Vinod Sridhar (TN-2) and Sandeep Kirtane (Mah-4) in the Indian Oil Servo All India Invitation Tennis Championship here at the Krishnan Centre.Other players to make it to the quarterfinals were Rohan Bopanna and Nitin Kirtane (both Mah), Saurav Panja (WB) and Vasudev Reddy (AP).
In the pre-quarterfinal matches, Nitin Kirtane and Saurav Panja came from behind to progress to the next stage. Panja lost the first set to Manoj Mahadevan 3-6, but fought back to take the next 7-5. Once Panja found his Rhythm, he was unstoppable, winning the third set and match without yielding any game.
