Govt wakes up to tea party manoeuvres
The Vajpayee Government has hurriedly convened a meeting of its coordination committee during Jayalalitha's sojourn in the Capital to counter Subramaniam Swamy's efforts to pull off a tete-a-tete between Sonia Gandhi and the AIADMK leader at his tea party on March 29.

Samata loses its national status
In a major setback to the Samata Party, the Election Commission on Wednesday derecognised it as a national party but granted the status of state party in Bihar, Haryana and Manipur on the basis of its performance in the elections last year.
