CALCUTTA: West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu's son, Chandan Basu escaped unhurt from an attack by alleged Trinamool Cong activists at his residence on Friday. The gang of around hundred men damaged his house and property including two cars. Sixteen men have been arrested so far. Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee has condemned the incident.

Romesh case

NEW DELHI: The two girls arrested in connection with the murder of Romesh Sharma's girlfriend Kunzom Budhraj here on Saturday were on Friday remanded to 14 days' judicial custody. The duo, claiming to be adopted sisters of the Dawood frontman, were on Thursday arrested for alleged role in the murder.

MiG crash

JAIPUR: An IAF flying officer R Gupta waskilled when a MiG-21 crashed at Rohi Manaksar in Ganganagar district, reports say. The fighter plane was on a routine flight from Suratgarh when the mishap occurred at 1.15 pm.

Composer dead

CALCUTTA: Renowned music composer Ananda Shankar died here on Friday morning following a massive cardiac failure. He was 56. He is the son of famous dancer Udaya Shankar and nephew of Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar.
