Refund ordered for defective sandal

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, March 26: The Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, comprising president H. C. Modi and members R. K. Behl and Shashi Kanta, has directed Gulati Shoes, Manimajra, to refund Rs 220 to a consumer after he surrendered the defective pair of sandals purchased by him.

In his complaint before the forum, Shiv Kumar Sharma stated that he had purchased the sandals from the opposite party for Rs 220, but after only 20 days, the sandal's soles had broken and the leather had cracked. The shoe shop failed to redress his grievance even after he apprised them of the same.

Holding the opposite party guilty of deficiency in services, the forum directed Gulati Shoes to refund the said amount to the complainant after he surrendered the sandals.
