Seven killed in road accidents

SHIMLA, March 26: Seven persons were killed and 36 injured, 15 of them seriously, in two different road accidents in Shimla and Solan districts of Himachal Pradesh since last evening.

Four youths were killed when a Tata Sumo no. HP-02-8466 skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge last evening near Matiyana, 52 km from here. Three others travelling with them were also injured. They were returning from Bhimkali temple at Sarahan after paying obeisance on Ram Navami day.

Superintendent of Police O.C. Thakur said the exact cause of the accident was being investigated by the police.

In another accident, a Bilaspur-bound private bus no. HIS 3294 rolled down into a 200-feet gorge at Haron at 1.30 p.m. near Arki in Solan district. While three persons died on the spot, 11 seriously injured have been referred to IGMC Hospital, Shimla. In all, nearly 33 person were injured. The cause of the accident was not known immediately.
