What's in what's out

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
Only Meghana Mangta Hai
Noooooo, Meghana, Channel [V] is just not going to be in anymore if you leave. We need you more than New York (and we don't need firang-trained filmmakers) does. But if it means you're gonna get us a super-duper, hi-fizz, hi-energy, crazier Mangta Hai, maybe we'll try not to miss you. But come back soon, 'cause Channel [V] is just not on (or in) till you get back to it.

Reddy, of course, is very excited. And she bids adieu to the channel with a major love note: ``Channel [V] has always been my first love and I am always there for the channel if and when they need me.'' So if Meghana mangta hai, just go rattle the Channel's bones till they get her back!

Purani Jeans, Naya Range
This might make you nostalgic. Before we'd heard of Lee Cooper, Levi's or Lee, Avis was the one brand we wore like our second skin. The brand's been around for the last 25 years, but was forced underground since the attack of the pardesi brands.

But now they're back with a vengeance, all geared up to re-establish their presence in the denim market. Their all-new 1999 range is just the answer for those who never had the dough for a pair of Levi's. Priced at a very affordable Rs 449, Avis chief Vikas Malkani claims they're as sexy as international brands. In addition to jeans, you can also pick up exec shirts and tees from the Avis select dealers. Check out their more-quality-for-less stuff, it's a cheap option to dressing well.

Life in the fast lane!
Atul Mandhar and Anil Singh Bhambra were the proud winners of the Sajoba Thunderbolt Sub-Himalayan Rally 1999 held on March 21 in the car category with the added advantage of minimum penalty points in the four wheel category. The team of Sanjay Sikand and Rashid were winners in the Jeep Category.

Organised each year the rally was a keen contest with 32 competitors. The rally according to Atul was a ``race against time.''

So what inspired them to rally almost 300 kms on tough terrains like Karondra, Khuda Lahora and Chail? ``It is all about speed and the thrill that is associated with it that inspires us to compete.. It is an experience that one cannot explain, but just feel'' said Anil.
