All state lotteries to be banned
The government today decided to ban all state lotteries in the country and amend the Mining and Minerals Development Regulation Act to make it more investor-friendly. The Union Cabinet, at a meeting which lasted more than two hours, also decided to further relax the condition of providing funds to the states under the accelerated irrigation benefit programme. Paying homage to the victims of Garhwal earthquake on Sunday night, the Cabinet decided to send two teams, one headed by Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission K.C. Pant, to decide on giving further relief to the affected people.

SGPC fails to take action Ranjit Singh
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) executive committee which concluded its meeting today at 12.30 p.m., failed to take any decision on the removal of Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh who was suspended by executive committee on February 15 last.
