Making a statement in the Assembly on an interview given by a person claiming to be Dara Singh to photojournalist Binay Bhushan Patnaik, Minister of State for Home Prasad Harichandan described the move to portray the accused in a different light as unjustified and unfortunate.The Opposition, meanwhile, criticised the Government for the delay in apprehending Dara. Arun Dey (Independent) alleged that the Centre and the State had started a move to glorify Dara Singh.
