Mill workers threaten stir
As many as 150 permanent workers of the Gokak Vadodara Spinning Mill have threatened to stage a traffic blockage in front of the mill on April 4 at 11 am, if the management does not pay them their salary pending since the past two months. The workers will hold the agitation under the aegis of Mahagujarat Kamdar/Karamchari Union.

Cub case hearing
Hearing in the Asiatic lion cub case was held in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate on Thursday. The forest department had moved court seeking the accused's remand. Decision of the case will be out on Saturday. Meanwhile, Apollo circus owner Ranjan Babu, who had supplied the cub, was still reported to be absconding.

PF prosecution
The regional provident fund organisation has sanctioned prosecution against Quality Steels and Forgings Limited, Madhvas, Kalol, for non-payment of dues to its employees from March 1996 to December 1998 and registered criminal cases against the management, an official release said. Meanwhile, according to a police release, a criminal case against one Ramesh Desai, chairman, Tensile Steel Ltd, Vishwamitri road was filed for not paying dues to some of its employees between July 1998 and January, 1999.

WRMS strike off
Members of the Western Railway Mazdoor Sangh called off their week-long dharna at the railway station on Thursday. The members were protesting against the alleged discrimination of the finance ministry on the improved pay scales of the clerical staff.

ISO 9002 status
NTPC's Jhanor Gandhar Gas Power Project at Jhanor village in Bharuch has been granted ISO 9002 certificate by the Bureau of Indian Standards for generation and supply of electricity to state electricity boards.
