VADODARA, April 1: As many as 31 Rashtriya Janata Party (RJP) members from the city and district, including former minister Ramesh Thakore, councillors Ashwin Thakore and Harish Vaghela and district president Yogin Amin, resigned from the party alleging that the party had no policies for minorities. In a statement on Thursday, they said the party was dominated by certain persons at the local-level, and lacked a policy for Harijans, tribals and women at the State-level. They have also alleged that there is no representation for these people either.
City unit president Dr Rajendrasinh Rathore, however, denied the charges maintaining that the party has policies for minorities. He claimed that the 31 had resigned because they were dropped from various newly constituted committees for their inactiveness.
Meanwhile, the members sent their resignation letters to State unit president Madhusudhan Mistry on March 30.
Among others who have resigned include: Bhogilal Patel (district general secretary) and Narendrasinh Thakore (Dabhoi taluka president).
Councillor Thakore said they would decide about joining any other party after a meeting, which would be convened shortly.
