Constable assaulted; two arrested

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
CHANDIGARH, April 1: A Chandigarh Police constable was reportedly roughed up by two persons near the roundabout of Sectors 36 and 37 late last night.

Police said that Baljit Singh, the constable deployed on traffic duty, stopped an auto-rickshaw and found that documents were incomplete. He said the vehicle would have to be impounded and taken to the traffic police lines. However, the auto-rickshaw driver and his relatives -- Balwinder Singh and Kulwinder Singh, tried to run away. When the constable objected, the driver's relatives allegedly manhandled him and Baljit Singh sustained injuries in the scuffle.The two have been arrested.

police have arrested Balwinder Singh and Kulwinder Singh, residents of Palsora Colony, for allegedly assaulting the policeman and obstructing him from discharging his duties.
