A medley on Punjabi culture and history
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, April 1: It was a medley on the culture and heritage of Punjab that one got at Tagore Theatre yesterday evening. It was a presentation by the Malwa Cultural and Social Welfare Society, a group of those in the city hailing from the Malwa belt.So there was geet by children and the usual vibrant dances. But a nostalgic piece Ei Punjabi Mera, Ei Punjabi Mera, that showed the plight of people after Partition through choreography by Tejinder Singh, was received with applause and emotion. But the highlight of the evening were two plays, Devinder Daman's Chippon To Pehla on Bhagat Singh's last days in jail and Sanjeevan Singh's Zafarnama on the realisation by Aurangzeb about the atrocities on Sikhs by his deputies.
