LUCKNOW, April 1: The resignation of Minister of State for Family Welfare Devendra Singh Bhole has taken a serious turn. About 50 MLAs opposed to Chief Minister Kalyan Singh met late last night at Bhole's house and faxed their resignations to the party's national president Kushabhau Thakre. In the letters, they threatened that if their resignations were not accepted in 15 days, they would submit their resignations from the Vidhan Sabha to Speaker Keshari Nath Tripathi. They also decided to meet the central party leaders in Delhi on April 4.
Meanwhile Kalyan came under pressure in the Vidhan Sabha when the Opposition demanded his explanation on Bhole's charges and a CBI inquiry. They kept disrupting House proceedings until the Assembly was adjourned sine die.
However, Kalyan described Bhole's allegations against him as baseless. ``I have been in active politics from 1962. My political career is spotless and an open book,'' he told reporters in the Vidhan Sabha.
The Chief Minister said those opposed tohim could say anything but they did not have the right to doubt his integrity. At the same time, he said his Government believed in the rule of law and anybody, whoever he may be, would not be allowed to take the law into his hands.
