CALCUTTA, APRIL 2: All Indian Forward Bloc (AIFB) has urged the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to declassify hundreds of documents on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the Government of India's possession. At a victory rally celebrating the Union Government decision ``to accept the demand for instituting a fresh inquiry commission to probe into the Netaji mystery,'' State AIFB leader Ashoke Ghosh has urged the Union Government to declassify these documents for public viewing and research.
Expressing their gratitude to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister L K Advani for the decision, the AIFB said, ``Our over two-decade struggle has been fruitful. The BJP-led coalition had to accept the verdict of the people who were agitated to see successive Governments trying their best to hush up Netaji's case.''
Ghosh later told The Indian Express that the AIFB had information that the West Bengal Home Department had `very important documents' on Netaji in its possession and added, ``We will ask theask the Left Front Government to release them for public viewing.''
Earlier, Ghosh also deplored the role of the local language press which decried the Union Government's decision to institute a fresh probe. Terming the campaign against the decision as `highly motivated', Ghosh said: ``The people's will can always defeat such disinformation campaigns.''
