MUMBAI, APRIL 2: After the two-headed Nalasopara baby, yet another new-born has stunned the city's medical fraternity. A baby with six legs was admitted to the King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital's neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU) this morning. The baby's parents have refused to reveal their identity and to speak to the press. The hospital's senior administrative medical officer (AMO) on duty, Dr Nitin Taute, told Express Newsline that the baby was born to a young couple in a Thane nursing home two days ago. ``The baby has three pairs of legs,'' he said. The legs of the baby, born after a caesarian section, are all of the normal size any new born would have and are protruding from the pelvis. ``The baby's sex is yet to be determined, though. The external sex organs are confusing, so the internal ones will have to be investigated,'' said Dr Taute. He was not in a position to give the baby's weight but said that the child has a urinary abnormality.
Its other vital systems -- respiratory, cardiacand the central nervous system -- are normal. ``The baby can therefore live after the extra limbs are separated from the body after an operation,'' he said.
