Rekha, Raj lift gold

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA  
NEW DELHI, APRIL 2: India won two golds, six silvers and one bronze medal on the second day of the Asian Powerlifting Championships here today.

The golds were won by Rekha Mal in 52 kg category and Raj Rajeshwari in 56 kg class of women's seniors.

Rekha Mal lifted 407.5 kg to easily claim the title as her team-mate K Siji won the silver with a 385.5 kg effort. Raj Rajeshwari picked 425 kg for her gold beating Sarifa Kozlov of Uzbekistan (347.5 kg) and Catalina Oca of Philippines (240 kg).

In 44 kg class, Chandrika Dey took the silver with a lift of 272.5 kgs behind Chen Chun Ju of Chinese Taipei who had an effort which was 80 kgs more. BH Bharati got a silver for her 365 kg lift in the 48 kg class, Chen Yen Ying of Chinese Taipei winning on 375 kgs.

In women's juniors Mandeep Kaur (52kg), Lilli Moni (56kg) and Mandakini Mohanta (47.5kg) won silvers. The bronze medalist for India was Sonali Bose in 52 kg of junior women.
