Derailment throws trains out of gear
Rail traffic on the Mumbai-Vadodara route was badly disrupted after an empty wagon derailed near Virar, a Mumbai suburb, on Sunday evening. At the time of going to press, a railway police spokesman said several Vadodara-bound trains from Mumbai, including the Karnavati Express and the Sayaji Express, were running several hours behind schedule. Both the Karnavati and the Sayaji Express were expected to arrive early on Monday. The Rajdhani Express from Mumbai, meanwhile, arrived in Vadodara an hour late.

Invited to meet
Psychiatrist Dr Sandeep Shah has been invited to present his research papers on schizophrenia at the International Conference on Schizophrenia to be held at Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA which will be attended by 1500 psychiatrists from all over the world. Shah had earlier presented a couple of his research papers at the International Conference held in Davos in 1998. PF prosecutionn M P SINHA, regional provident fund commission, Vadodara sub-regional office here has sanctioned prosecution against management of M/S Calico Polyester Fibre, Vadodara, for non-payment of provident fund dues to several of its employees between November 1994 and June 1995. According to an official release, K C Vyas, area enforcement officer filed a criminal case against the company management in the court of the judicial magistrate.

EME tea for kids
An evening tea was organised on Saturday for the physically and mentally impaired children of the Baroda Cantonment at the house of Major General M C Sebastin, Commandant of the EME School. The event formed a part of the many welfare schemes organised in the EME School.
