Russian V-Cs, rectors to attend city fair

VADODARA, April 4: Several vice-chancellors and rectors of various Russian universities will take part in a two-day Russian education fair, beginning on April 9, at the M S University.

Russian department head Debal Dasgupta told Express Newsline on Sunday that the fair would guide and provide information to students interested in pursuing further studies in Russia in a variety of fields, including technology and design, cinema and television, chemistry and pharmacology, architecture and housing construction, economics, statistics, informatics and aviation.

Dasgupta said students could also be granted admissions to reputed Russian universities and other CIS institutions through the Department of Russian Language, ,MSU and the Russian Consulate at Mumbai. He said the students would be imparted the initial training in the language and in technical vocabulary by the teachers of the MSU department.

Apart from 13 representatives of several universities of Moscow, St Petersburg and Riga, Belosuv Alexander, rector of the St Petersburg Institution of Cinema and T V., would be present at the fair, Dasgupta said.

The Russian department head claimed that this was the first Russian education fair to be organised by any university. While the fair will be inaugurated by university Chancellor Mrunalinidevi Puar, an open house will be declared open by Mayor Bharti Vyas at the New Architecture building, D N Campus on April 10.

The open house will apprise interested applicants about the fee structure, the curriculum, fee structure, accommodation, scholarships and city information. Dasgupta said that the main beneficiaries would be students who have appeared for their std XII examination, but students from colleges and universities could also take advantage.
