Police register FIR over Dairy milk price hike

VADODARA, April 4: In the footsteps of the political parties' protest against the hike in milk prices, the Raopura police registered an FIR against the Baroda Dairy on the complaint of Kishor Kumar Shankarlal Panchal, resident of Professor Maneklal Road.

Panchal alleged that he had been charged 50 paise more than Rs 6.50, the maximum retail price printed on the pouch, at the Baroda Dairy outlet in Jubilee Baug.

The FIR as been registered under Section 36/12 of the Maximum Retail Prices Act.

Meanwhile, several leaders of the Youth Congress criticised the price hike, alleging that the Dairy management as well as the BJP government had betrayed the people with the move. City unit president Narendra Rawat said in a press note that YC members would call on District Collector Anil Mukim on Monday to submit a memorandum in the context.
