Suicide case registered
A case was registered against one Kantibhai Rachjibhai Harijan, a resident of Fatehpura Hathikhana Harijanwas, in the City Police Station, on Saturday. According to the police, the accused tried to commit suicide by consuming anti-malaria pills but was soon rushed to SSG Hospital by his relatives and family members, the police added. The death of his wife and child two months back is said to be reason behind the extreme step.

Dowry case
The city police have registered a case against two persons for torturing a woman for dowry. In a complaint with the police, the victim alleged that her in-laws tortured her ever since her marriage for dowry. No arrest have, however, been made so far.

Money stolen
One Piyushkumar Raojibhai Rao Patel, a resident of Vijay Park Society in Nizampura locality, complained to the Navapura police that a cash of Rs 45,500 was stolen from his pocket near Kirti Stambh Bus Stand when he was travelling in a State Roadways bus on Sunday morning. Investigations are on.

Gun recovered
The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) on Saturday recovered an Indian made pistol from one Rafik Diwan, a resident of Laxmipura village. According to PSI K C Rajput, Diwan was remanded to police custody in connection with cases of vehicle thefts. It was then he told the police that he had hidden the pistol near a company in Bil village for his security.

Assaulted
In a complaint lodged with Chhani Police, one Bhaubhai Patel, a resident of Chhani, said that some people hit an unidentified person with sharp-edged weapons which resulted in his death. The body of the person aged about 35 was recovered from eastern side of the railway bridge on the National Highway.

Theft
The owner of a city-based fuse making factory was cheated to the tune of Rs 2.26 lakh, the police said. In a complaint lodged with the Gorwa police on Thursday afternoon, Hirkumar Desai, a resident of Shrenik Park in Akota, said that during the course of the year, three people stole copper plates worth Rs 2,26,780 from his godown situated in Gorwa. According to the police, the complainant has named Mahendra Suthar, Kaushal Durmal and Rohit Joshi as the suspects. Details of the missing copper plates came to light when the owner undertook a stock-checking of the material on March 31.

Burns death
One Nita Gohil, a housewife staying in Madhavpark Society, Laxmipura, succumbed to the burns in a private hospital in Kothi on Friday evening, the police said. Police said she had sustained burns on face and hands while cooking at her residence on Thursday. She was earlier admitted to the SSG Hospital but shifted to private hospital for further treatment.

Cheating case
In a complaint lodged with the city police station, Laxmandas Amlani, a resident of a society on the Warasia Ring Road, stated that he was duped to the tune of Rs 2,21,000. The complaint stated that when the complainant's son went to stay in a house in Akashdarshan Apartment in Kakkadpitha, which Amlani had purchased from one Hasmukh Soni of Warasia Ring Road, he found others staying in the house. Amlani in his complaint further stated that the house was purchased on installemnts and the possession was given on September 9, 1996 and his son went to stay there on September 16, 1998. A case has been registered against Kiritkumar Soni, Hasmukh Soni, Nandal Soni, Chandrika Bhatt and Vinubhai Bhatt.
