Students threaten to fast unto death

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, April 4: The Bachelor of Business Administration students will meet the syndicate members of the M S University to urge them to take some action and look into their pending demands. The meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday.

The students have threatened that they would go on fast unto death from next week if their demands are not met by the Faculty of Commerce dean. One of the students, Pranav Shroff said, ``Some of our demands like having full time professors and lecturers have already been looked into to our satisfaction.'' Shroff added that the remaining demands which the dean of the faculty had assured to look into have not yet been catered.

Shroff said that the students are paying Rs 70,000 annually still there were no additional facilities. The students did not have a separate computer laboratory, no special classrooms, neither did they have any separate library. They have added that they would be submitting a memorandum to the syndicate members so that some action was taken and they were treated like students of a professional course.

They have also claimed that a lot of assurances had been made and the dean had also promised that it would be looked into by April 4, but nothing has happened.

The syndicate, meanwhile, is meeting out of turn to discuss the case of the admission procedure of the 22 students of the Faculty of Commerce. Senior syndicate members said that during the meeting, the members would also discuss about the alleged sexual harassment of a students by her guide recently. The illegal admissions of the 40-odd students of the Faculty of Commerce would also be taken up.
